Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH)

MCH calculated from measured values of Hb and RBC; ie, MCH = Hb/RBC. A low MCH can mean hypochromia or microcytosis or both. A high MCH is evidence of macrocytosis.

Normal Range: 26-34 pg

increased in: Macrocytosis.

Decreased in: Microcytosis (iron deficiency, thalassemia). Hypochromia (lead poisoning, sideroblastic anemia, anemia of chronic disease).
